Berlioz

150 years since the death of Hector Berlioz, creator of the famous Fantastic Symphony, a romantic and visionary work: The Impromptu Concert celebrates the most eccentric French genius, red and crazy opera, like Vivaldi.

On the program, 3 concerts -local, instrumental and zany- concocted for adults and children, with the complicity of singer Capucine Keller, pianist Bruno Belthoise and journalist and contrabassoonist Antoine Pecqueur …

Love and music, the two wings of the soul – according to Berlioz – intertwine in the romantic and poetic pages borrowed from various lyric works:
• Beatrice and Benedicte, according to Shakespeare, extracts
• La Captive, extracts • Summer Nights
• The Childhood of Christ, trio of the Ishmaelites
• Sonnets of Shakespeare and Théophile Gautier

Around an unpublished notebook titled Souvenirs and Improvisations, found in the attic of his birthplace at the Côte Saint-André, The Impromptu Concert explores Berlioz’s paradoxical relationship with himself, between egotism and self-mockery, a dialogue between Le Impromptu concert and journalist and charismatic musician Antoine Pecqueur.

• Symphonie Fantastique
• Texts from the memories and correspondences of Hector Berlioz
